On January 5, 2012, Dean Haskins, Director of the former Birther Summit, wrote an article titled “Update on New Lawsuit Filed Against Hawaii Department of Health on Behalf of Virginia Sunahara’s Brother, Duncan Sunahara.” This week Article II Super PAC ran an ad in the Washington Times Weekly and Daily to draw people’s attention to Hawaii’s Deputy Attorney General, Jill Nagamine, using, some suggest abusing, her power by blocking the Sunahara family from securing baby Virginia’s original Hawai’ian long-form birth certificate and by extension ALL Hawai’an’s original birth records. Why the State of Hawaii is fighting this extremely simple request spending thousands of taxpayer’s funds is beyond our ability to even make a guess. Rather, we find it disturbing that the brother of a baby who died over 50 years ago can’t secure her original birth certificate. Think about that…hhhmmm….50 years ago.

Folks, Monsanto is a Rockefeller company. Their science has been attacking farmers, property rights and heirloom seeds for decades. Monsanto was the original maker of Round-Up and the GMO Round-up Ready Seed. Now, they have been developing the aluminum resistant seed to take advantage of the alkaline soils created by Operation Cloverleaf (chemtrail program). You don’t get involved with Monsanto unless you are in cahoots with Rockefeller.

The govt banned the primeatine mist inhaler last year and said we exhale carbon dioxide which causes global warming and stopped the company from making it. It was an otc inhaler–now the only thing available for instant relief is by script only which means paying a co pay to the dr and your insurance only pays a fraction of the enormous cost. they are $302. each for 30 days–thanks to barry and his illegal hc bill this is the promise he made to big pharm–get rid og what workds and bring in high cost drugs to stuff their pockets more. get rid of him asap.
I don’t often reply on this site, but I do perk up when I see drug misinformation. I’m also an asthmatic and have been treating my asthma for some time, having tried nearly every product on the market at some point for comparisons.
Primatine mist wasn’t exactly banned. The ruling that inhalers must use environmentally safe propellants was known for a while. The makers of Primatine mist chose not to alter their formulation to be in compliance. The makers of all of the Rx products chose to change their formulations, and thus, they were allowed to sell their products.
Also, I’m not sure where you are getting the $302 number. None of the albuterol inhalers are anywhere nearly that expensive, even if you are paying cash. Some pharmacies (Wal-Mart comes to mind) sell Albuterol inhalers with fewer actuations for relatively low prices. I believe 60 puffs is 9.99 at Wal-Mart. The average prescription is 2 puffs every 4-6 hours, so essentially, that should last nearly a week. Most inhalers run in the 100 dollar range cash and come with 200 actuations. Depending on the product, you may get more or less than 200 out of that. I find that I get more out of my inhaler than it says it should.
You must also consider the ingredients in each. Prescription inhalers use either steroids or typically albuterol. Some use a combination of both. Primatine mist used epinephrine. Epinephrine WILL cause relaxation of the bronchioles, but the effect is very short lived. It also does much more than just relax the bronchioles, which is why it is not really the best product for asthma, particularly if you have hypertension. Albuterol is hardly a perfect drug, but it at least has a longer duration of action, so each puff will last longer and have fewer side effects.
If you absolutely must take something OTC to treat your asthma, you can use caffeine. The primary metabolite of caffeine is theophylline, and that is also used for the treatment of asthma. It’s not the route I’d go, but if you are having an asthma attack and absolutely must do something, that will relieve your symptoms in a few minutes as the caffeine works its way through your liver.
There is also a tablet formulation of Primatine, but I’ve never taken it, so I can’t really tell you how effective it is. In theory, it should work, but oral meds for asthma are not really the best way to go. At all. You’ll get WAAAAY more systemic side effects with those than you’re probably wanting. But it IS an approved OTC treatment for asthma.
My husband was just perscribed spiriva handihaler and our insurance paid 175 and our cost was 124 that totals to 299 and I certainly flipped at that cost. You are right that primatine mist has epi in it and that worked great for him. But barry made “deals” with all drug companies for them to make as much on us as possible, all part of his bogus HC plan.
Senator Jim DeMint from SC worked extremely hard to keep primatine mist on the market to no avail.
Most of these inhalers do have steriods in them whereas Primatine did not and I am not a fan of steriods.
Spirava is not your average inhaler. It’s one of the more expensive products on the market. It’s also not generally used to treat asthma; it is primarily used for COPD. There aren’t many drugs that do what it does, and of the two that are commercially available, it has higher specificity for ONLY lung tissue and longer duration of action.
Also the healthcare plan had nothing to do with Primatine being removed from the market. As I said, manufacturers were told WELL in advance that inhalers using CFCs as propellants would not be allowed. Primatine was one of the few inhalers that said they would run out the clock, and as such, they were pulled. They said it was not worth it to them to reformulate.
Jim DeMint’s work notwithstanding, the ruling was that CFCs were to be banned. Why have rules if you’re going to make exceptions for certain companies? I know no one here likes it when Obama’s cronies get exceptions made for them. I cannot really see it as being that different when everyone else had to reformulate, particularly since the newly reformulated drugs were all either just as potent or usually MORE potent with the new propellant.
As much as I enjoyed Primatine Mist, and I used it until it was pulled from the market, it is a poor drug for treating most asthma patients. I only used it as long as I did because I have a mutation in the receptor which means albuterol has poor affinity. Therefore, I will require more drug to get the same amount of effect, and I will have a shorter duration of action because it doesn’t stay where I needs to be. Primatine’s active ingredient, epinephrine, works on nearly all tissues of the body. It has an incredibly high amount of side effects for this reason. That coupled with the fact that it will wear off in a matter of minutes means it should not be used for routine asthma maintenance.
As I said before, there ARE still OTC options, but none of them come in an inhaler. There are options for asthma that are affordable. In a pinch, go with a cup of coffee. It’ll take 20 minutes, but it will work.
