So if they feel that way, why would they take an oath to uphold and defend it?  One word:  power. A pox on all of their houses!

    Turning States into Welfare Wards

    * On: 01/07/2010 09:37:21

    By Carter Clews

Having effectively seized control of the banks, the auto industry, executive pay grades, and every stone that’s turned in the nation’s infrastructure, the Obama Administration has now turned its avaricious attention on state’s rights. And this may be the most devious and deadly seizure of all.

While most journalists dozed in early December, with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads, the Obama takeover czars were plotting a way to federalize state budgets by undermining any and all citizen restrictions on deficit spending.

Currently 49 of the 50 states (Vermont being the exception) have legal requirements that the budget be balanced at year’s end. Some are constitutional, some are statutory, and some are based upon judicial decisions stemming from constitutional provisions restricting state indebtedness.

Clearly, this type of fiscal restraint is not something that appeals to an administration that has giddily run up a budget deficit four times higher than other in U.S. history. One that now blithely proposes to increase that deficit even further with its massive takeover of the nation’s entire health care industry.

In fact, the restraints upon fiscal sanity at the state level offend Obama and his ilk on two levels. First, they utterly disdain the idea that the hoi polloi should exercise any control whatsoever over the government elite. And second, they abhor the fact that states can still limit the amount they spend on the pet projects of the Washington politicians’ favorite cronies and top contributors.

Say, public employee unions, for example.

So, in December, the Obama-Reid-Pelosi regime unveiled a scheme to take ultimate control of state spending out of the hands of the various states and the citizens thereof. Quite simply, with the passage of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2010 (HR 2847), handing the states a $154 billion dole to cover their deficits, they took a major step towards undermining fiscal sanity, and state sovereignty as well.

Should HR 2847 now pass the spendthrift Senate, the balanced budget laws of 49 states will be rendered moot. And the ability of the citizens thereof to control state spending will become little more than laughable.

Lest anyone doubt the true intention of the Obama purse and power grab, he, himself, made it abundantly clear, saying, “Frankly, because state and local governments generally don’t have the capacity to engage in deficit spending, some of that obligation falls on the federal government.”

So, who really benefits from the new federally-financed state deficit spending paradigm (other, of course, that the power-hungry Washington political elite)? The individual states? Not really. They have gotten along quite well for centuries under the sensible restraints of fiscal responsibility. The citizens thereof? Only if they like the idea of runaway government spending, higher taxes, and politicians laughing in their faces while picking their pockets.

No, the true beneficiaries of the state bailout are public employee unions and their greedy, grasping bosses. They are the ones who feathered Obama’s nest when he ran for President. And they now have their hands out for the pay back.

As Michael Barone, respected senior political analyst for the Washington Examiner, recently wrote of the Democrats earlier state bailout largesse:

“The political aim, although Democrats don’t say so, was to maintain public-sector jobs — and the flow of union dues to the public-employee unions that represent almost 40 percent of public-sector workers.

“Those unions in turn have contributed generously to Democrats. Service Employees International Union head Andy Stern, the most frequent nongovernment visitor to the Obama White House, has boasted that his union steered $60 million to Democrats in the 2008 cycle. The total union contribution to Democrats has been estimated at $400 million.”

So, there you have it – a “twofer” for the Obama-Reid-Pelosi regime: They get to destroy state sovereignty, while padding the pockets of their union boss benefactors. All at taxpayer expense.

As bad as Big Government’s bailouts – and subsequent seizures — of the banks, the auto industry, and various and sundry other business entities were, they pale in comparison to the federal government’s takeover of the state budgetary processes. For the hard left, it is at once a stroke of genius and a coup de gras. Like addled addicts hooked on heroine, the increasingly out-of-control states will likely never return to fiscal sanity. And Washington will have claimed total dominance over yet another welfare ward.

Wow. The states better move fast to pass their 10th amendment resolutions, and start listing things that are in the states’ control. Unless we allow this, this cannot happen.

        http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2010/01/atlas-exclusive-diversity-and-religious-visas-continue-to-increase-from-islamic-terror-sponsor.html
Why is the Obama State Department INCREASING “Diversity Visas” from terror-sponsoring nations now?
Back in June 2009: DIVERSITY VISA NUMBERS: IMPORTING JIHAD IN THE TENS OF THOUSANDS and April 2009: “Diversity Visas” and “Religious Visas”: Importing Jihad, the advancement of this importation of jihad.
Obama wasted no time in opening up the visa regulations when he took office last year, beginning with “religious visas.” Before, whoever wanted to enter as a supposed ‘missionary’ needed to demonstrate his/her affiliation with a religious institution for at least two years. Obama changed it to almost no proof at all.
It is predominately Muslims who use the “religious visa”. And that number is quite high. Many countries such as Pakistan or territories such as Palestine use this type of visa, because it has been harder for them to get a regular visa (though that is no longer true for the Palestinians). But because most Muslims can’t really provide or do not want to provide the information of a specific mosque they’ve attended or they’ve “preached” at, they complained — and now DOS has granted their wish of waiving the 2-year proof requirement.

Bottom line, this yet another type of visa they are using, and this change helps them enormously.

Another type of visa that is dangerous and is an IV (Immigrant Visa), is what is called a “Diversity” visa — a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants.” Diversity Visas (DV) each fiscal year are made available to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. The annual DV program makes visas available to persons meeting the simple eligibility requirements. A computer-generated, random lottery drawing chooses selectees for diversity visas. The visas are distributed among six geographic regions, with a greater number of visas going to regions with lower rates of immigration.

Just to give you an idea of the impact of these changes on regions rife with jihad, look at the numbers

And don’t be fooled by Europe’s number — diversity means we are importing Europe’s Pakistanis, Moroccans, Algerians, etc., and we know how well they have integrated into those societies.

New numbers show a dramatic increase. And remember Egypt includes Gaza and Ethiopia includes Somalis …thats how they hide those numbers.
        Egypt 12,300
        . Ethiopia 12,475
        . Nigeria 12,900

Don’t know if you folks have been following it, but Scott Brown has whittled Martha Coakley’s lead down to single digits in the MA special election for Kennedy’s seat. I think he was trailing by 26 pts just a month ago, last I heard it was down to 9.

Here’s a great article about this race.

      http://americasright.com/?p=2082

If anyone thinks the career-politican Republicans are genuine, this race should open your eyes like never before.

This race has the potential to put an end to the 60 seat majority in the Senate, and yet the RNC and most major voices in the Republican party are silent.

We need to FIRE every last one of them.

      • 9 finneganswig January 8, 2010 at 7:37 pm

Brown wants them to stay out of it, apparently. I think he’s right. It becomes a national-type spectacle/battle, it wakes up the liberals in MA. He represents himself as an “Independent thinker”, I don’t think he wants the national republic brand hung around his neck as a candidate in MA.
The Brown supporters are hyper-motivated, you don’t get the same sense about Coakley’s people. She hasn’t been campaigning, she won’t debate Brown one-on-one, there’s the theory that she’s lied about her campaign coffers. She’s traveling to DC for a fundraiser. She hasn’t really had many tv ads since the primary. If the national dems get involved, money could start pumping into her campaign in the last week.

Rumors are flying that Rahm and Geithner will be leaving and soon. Something tells me that these resignations are not by choice but rather not to embarrass the 0 when they are arrested. Keep a close eye out for such stories as the one in Bloomberg yesterday and the Cleveland Dealer today. This is the way it’s done. Feed a story through anonymous sources to pave the way for a graceful transition to private life and within a couple of weeks you’ll see these men on your nightly news in handcuffs. There are many more resignations to follow. Watch out for the meme as hints to others who will be departing. Hold onto your hats.

EXPLOSIVE video – Saudi’s paid for 0’s education at Columbia while he was training in Afghanistan in the 80’s. This validates Dean M’s CIA operative theory about 0. The CIA was training AQ operatives at that time, hence, O was CIA. This is truly remarkable. http://atlah.org/atlahworldwide/?p=3905

Makes sense to me since the only ones who can give him a new identity and hide the old identity is the CIA. New soc sec, New passport, new birth certificate, new everything. Small wonder why it’s being hidden. nincumpoopobama says “I’m a citizen, that’s why I’m spending millions to hide it” DOH.
I do not believe he ever got a degree. His speech pattern is just plain awful and he has trouble with his cognitive skills or lack therof.

      • 16 terminu January 8, 2010 at 6:47 pm

Agreed. And that nuclear disarmament essay he wrote? He says he remembers hiding under his desk during bomb drills in school…however if he was born in 1961, they stopped all those drills by 1964, they were a thing of the 50’s mainly…

Ayers had to have written that one too.

        • 17 Quantum Leap January 8, 2010 at 10:47 pm

Great deduction terminu. It must have been Ayers. I remember the bomb scare drills. The sirenes would wail and we’d all line up single file and trot outside which made zero sense if a bomb really dropped. At other times we’d hide under the desk and instructions were frequent on how to stand in a doorway. Sometimes we’d go down to the basement called a bomb shelter and I can remember seeing a black triangle with a yellow background on the wall with the words “Fallout Shelter”. That was the late 50’s. What a nightmare for a little kid. But we were tough. When you have abusive nuns with creepy flowing black garments and huge crosses around their necks, it made everything else seem easy. Kids today are marshmallows.

I usually agree with what Rev. Mannning has to say but in the video above I don’t agree with some things. He greatly belittles JFK and Bill Clinton for sexual prowess. Even though that is true I fail to see how he can compare their behavior to that of Barack Obama, who is defying the constitution and We The People and who is a usurper and a fraud in our office of the president. It is an insult to me for this comparison to have been made. JFK and Bill Clinton, as presidents were American citizens and legitimate presidents.

BHO is a devout muslim and his religion is listed as Islam. It’s all down and verified in writing. Put that in your pipe and smoke it obots. Islam is not a religion. It’s evil and direct to Satan.

No-Nancy: Bill Clinton was such a good president, all of policies gave us the ultimate reward of: 9/11.

Some people believe JFK was killed because he was about to end the Fed. He was NOT a good president either (hello, Cuban missile crisis?)

You should look behind the curtain… we ain’t in Kansas any more…

If the Constitution is flawed, didn’t our Founding Fathers put in place a method of changing it? Don’t re-interept the Constitution, use the Amendment process to correct it. Bottom line is that they are idiots and just want to do as they please with the approval of the SCOTUS. Vote them all out!!

  11. 23 Quantum Leap January 8, 2010 at 10:53 pm

I’d like us to keep Michele Bachmann. Especially since she is Nazi Pelosi’s number 1 target. That says something. Anyone Nanzi hates is okay by me.
