We see, therefore, that War is not merely a political act, but also a real political instrument, a continuation of political commerce, a carrying out of the same by other means. ~Clausewitz
An excellent article over at American Thinker reminds one of this salient fact, and bluntly suggests that if war is a continuation of politics by other means, then military strategy should be applied to the context of politics and political ideas. Thus, the same way military strategy dictates that one should not fight on the enemy’s terms, a political strategy should not be engaged on terms that favor one’s opponent.
One of the rarefied battlegrounds is that of language and ideas. There is certainly enough evidence to show that many of our finest academic institutions teach our children and young adults to disdain the ideas of the Constitution and to forget or deride our Constitutional Republic.
In the battle of ideas, progressives, with the aid of their academic and media allies, have defined many of the terms and words that will be used. They are able to “impose their will” by defining the terms of the debate. That forces conservatives into an untenable position from which they usually cannot win, because they have given the verbal “high ground” to the progressives by using their terminology
Even the word ‘progressive’…the very word itself is positive. Yet we know from history that ‘progressives’, and progressive ideology, is rooted in fascist, totalitarian thought and leads to governments with those characteristics.
The current day ‘progressives’ are the socialist democrats, the ‘liberals’, and the left. When we use the words ‘progressive’ and ‘liberal’ in a derogatory sense, we actually fall into the progressive trap because we have yielded the ‘high ground’ on language.
The correct term should be “oppressive,” not “progressive,” because statist/progressive/totalitarian governments have to oppress individual freedom in order to force people to conform to the will of the state…
There are many other examples of the appropriation of language to basically impose a new viewpoint on people:
- “climate change”–climate hoax
- “social justice”–social control
- “working poor”–only the poor work?
- “undocumented worker” –illegal alien
- “health care reform”–health care scam
- “Living Constitution”–Constitution
Remember that the left is Alinsky-minded, so they will throw every one of these terms at you fast and furiously. When you engage the left with the real terminology, the insults will start flying because you will have exposed the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the scam. Stand your ground!
