Paul Revere’s Ride

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, April 1860

Listen my children and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five;
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.

He said to his friend, “If the British march
By land or sea from the town to-night,
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light,–
One if by land, and two if by sea;
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm.”

Then he said “Good-night!” and with muffled oar
Silently rowed to the Charlestown shore,
Just as the moon rose over the bay,
Where swinging wide at her moorings lay
The Somerset, British man-of-war;
A phantom ship, with each mast and spar
Across the moon like a prison bar,
And a huge black hulk, that was magnified
By its own reflection in the tide.

Meanwhile, his friend through alley and street
Wanders and watches, with eager ears,
Till in the silence around him he hears
The muster of men at the barrack door,
The sound of arms, and the tramp of feet,
And the measured tread of the grenadiers,
Marching down to their boats on the shore.

North Church

Then he climbed the tower of the Old North Church,
By the wooden stairs, with stealthy tread,
To the belfry chamber overhead,
And startled the pigeons from their perch
On the sombre rafters, that round him made
Masses and moving shapes of shade,–
By the trembling ladder, steep and tall,
To the highest window in the wall,
Where he paused to listen and look down
A moment on the roofs of the town
And the moonlight flowing over all.

Beneath, in the churchyard, lay the dead,
In their night encampment on the hill,
Wrapped in silence so deep and still
That he could hear, like a sentinel’s tread,
The watchful night-wind, as it went
Creeping along from tent to tent,
And seeming to whisper, “All is well!”
A moment only he feels the spell
Of the place and the hour, and the secret dread
Of the lonely belfry and the dead;
For suddenly all his thoughts are bent
On a shadowy something far away,
Where the river widens to meet the bay,–
A line of black that bends and floats
On the rising tide like a bridge of boats.

Meanwhile, impatient to mount and ride,
Booted and spurred, with a heavy stride
On the opposite shore walked Paul Revere.
Now he patted his horse’s side,
Now he gazed at the landscape far and near,
Then, impetuous, stamped the earth,
And turned and tightened his saddle girth;
But mostly he watched with eager search
The belfry tower of the Old North Church,
As it rose above the graves on the hill,
Lonely and spectral and somber and still.
And lo! as he looks, on the belfry’s height
A glimmer, and then a gleam of light!
He springs to the saddle, the bridle he turns,
But lingers and gazes, till full on his sight
A second lamp in the belfry burns.

A hurry of hoofs in a village street,
A shape in the moonlight, a bulk in the dark,
And beneath, from the pebbles, in passing, a spark
Struck out by a steed flying fearless and fleet;
That was all! And yet, through the gloom and the light,
The fate of a nation was riding that night;
And the spark struck out by that steed, in his flight,
Kindled the land into flame with its heat.
He has left the village and mounted the steep,
And beneath him, tranquil and broad and deep,
Is the Mystic, meeting the ocean tides;
And under the alders that skirt its edge,
Now soft on the sand, now loud on the ledge,
Is heard the tramp of his steed as he rides.

It was twelve by the village clock
When he crossed the bridge into Medford town.
He heard the crowing of the cock,
And the barking of the farmer’s dog,
And felt the damp of the river fog,
That rises after the sun goes down.

It was one by the village clock,
When he galloped into Lexington.
He saw the gilded weathercock
Swim in the moonlight as he passed,
And the meeting-house windows, black and bare,
Gaze at him with a spectral glare,
As if they already stood aghast
At the bloody work they would look upon.

It was two by the village clock,
When he came to the bridge in Concord town.
He heard the bleating of the flock,
And the twitter of birds among the trees,
And felt the breath of the morning breeze
Blowing over the meadow brown.
And one was safe and asleep in his bed
Who at the bridge would be first to fall,
Who that day would be lying dead,
Pierced by a British musket ball.

You know the rest. In the books you have read
How the British Regulars fired and fled,—
How the farmers gave them ball for ball,
>From behind each fence and farmyard wall,
Chasing the redcoats down the lane,
Then crossing the fields to emerge again
Under the trees at the turn of the road,
And only pausing to fire and load.

So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,—
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.

One more quote to post and see if you all remember this one? Who said and when?
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country

Excellent article, raising more questions…sound the alarm

Excellent, must read: Barack Obama, CIA agent

    • 5 Jan March 28, 2010 at 6:32 pm

This article identifies Obama as a “Zionist asset,” which is clearly not the case. He has made every effort to undermine Israel, from refusing to be photographed with Netanyahu, to making his first presidential call to a Muslim leader, to giving Netanyahu the bottom of his shoe, to now pressuring Netanyahu to stop building in Jerusalem. Netanyahu’s reply to which is that Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel, not a settlement.

If there is one thing clear about Obama it is his disdain for Israel. He does not behave at all like a “Zionist asset.”

Here is an interview (about 7-10 minutes) with David Dolan, a Middle East analyst for various news outlets. He is definitely pro Israel, as it the interviewer, Jimmy DeYoung. They have some important observations concerning Obama’s completely inappropriate dealing with Netanyahu and the whole Middle East situation, especially concerning the building in Jerusalem:

      [audio src="" /]

I have noticed that often when someone begins with the Illuminati and the Masonic Lodge they almost always end with some kind of anti Israel sentiment, implying that Zionists/Israel is part of a secret plot to overtake the world. There may be some kind of organized plot to overtake the world and there may be Jews involved, but any such plot is against, not for Israel.

drkate, I have always wondered why Condoleeza Rice acted so nonchalant during the passport break-ins during the primaries. I sometimes wonder if everyone from GWB, Cheney, Rice, traitor Colin Powell who went over to the darkside during the GE, and even though he is a FOX contributor Karl Rove was purported to be good friends with Donna Brazille who pushed the lughead along to help get him elected, were not all in on the “deal” to get Obama elected. They just did not count on his narcissism and self love to be so over powering. I just cannot see such an elaborate “cover up” of this magnitude to get someone like him into power where someone does not “leak” something along the way. But then even if it was, the LSM would have to get their head out of his $$s long enough to report on it.

      • 8 drkate March 28, 2010 at 8:41 pm

At first I couldn’t believe it went that deep. But then I had to accept it…the failure to act by Bush, Rice and Cheney is the surest sign they chose to look the other way. I also think that it is so corrupt, the dems have stuff on them, and the republicans have stuff on the dems…so they all keep quiet.

And think about it, the repubs also ran an ineligible candidate, so that card could not be played.

With unease, I now see everything completely differently.

        • 9 finneganswig March 28, 2010 at 9:44 pm

McCain’s eligibility issues and I think they were genuinely concerned with civil unrest if Obama had been forced from the race – which of course would have been stoked by the Sharptons and Farrahkans of the world. I would expect the message was hinted at what might result if he were exposed as ineligible, and/or for whatever it is he’s hiding. There would have been some rioting if he had merely lost the election to McCain. Obama had all the “burn your own neighborhood down”/”trash your campus” voting blocs in his corner.

          • 10 alforhill50 March 29, 2010 at 1:00 pm

finneganswig, I can’t see anyone’s dumb reasoning that what we are facing and some rioting could compare. I lived through the race riots during the 60’s. It wasn’t anything compared to losing our liberty and country to this band of communist wanta-be’s. There was terror when I was a little kid because there were some neighborhoods in B’ham, AL where you could get bricks or rocks thrown through your car windshield but the obvious solution was to avoid those neighborhoods and stay away from the troubled spots. As long as OB and his bunch can continue to throw race riots around to fend off any serious threat to overthrow them, they will continue to bully everyone. With the LSM continually marching to his drumbeat and keeping the pot stirred up, he wins the fight. Like he says, “bring it on.” What have we got to lose except our freedom and our country.

            • 11 drkate March 30, 2010 at 12:50 am

I think the whole rioting thing has a racial undertone. And I agree it is used to frighten us…and the black panthers and acor are only too happy to comply

              • 12 finneganswig March 30, 2010 at 11:06 pm

Before the election a Philadelphia Daily News writer, Fatimah Ali, wrote an article stating that if Obama was not elected a “race war” would break out in America.

I am having a hard time accepting the CIA operative theory. I can see the columbia trial for determing whether o was ever there but I am unconvinced o could ever be any kind of operative. Why would the CIA support efforts to defeat russia, a communist country, only to allow a communist to be president? Something does not sound right here but i may be naive. I hope dr. manning has double checked his sources. I would hate to see him in a set up or used as a distraction.

    Guy Woodhouse~
“I know where you got the idea that Minnie and Roman were witches but how come you thought Abe and I joined the party, huh? Lets face it, darling, you had the pre-partum crazies. And now you’re gonna rest and you’re gonna get over them… From now on, everything’s gonna be roses. Paramount’s within an inch of where we want em, and suddenly Universal’s interested too. And were gonna blow this town. Were gonna be in the beautiful hills of Beverly with a pool and a spice garden – the whole schmeer. And the kids too, Ro. Scouts honor, you heard what Abe said? Ive gotta run now and get famous.”

They showed a clip of Howard Dean this morning, saying “Let’s be honest, this is not so much about health care as WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION”. Howard always told it like it is, and many do not like that. But he went on to say that “you need to be careful with wealth redistribution, if you tip the scales too much in the wrong direction”. By the way, in case you are wondering, the name of the UNCONSTITUTIONAL ACT is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010! That’s a mouthful! Should have rightly named it the WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION ACT OF 2010. I have not heard anything about making this affordable, only making it available.

Democrats squirm with health care questions:

  11. 20 heather March 29, 2010 at 1:47 pm

The longer these lies and this fraud goes on the harder it’s going to be on all politicians who knew about him.

When we were kids my mother always said, never lie, it turns to a bigger one and then you get caught——–I would dare say now that they have been caught and no one knows what to do about it!

So this is now up to WE THE PEOPLE to charge them all with treason against our Constitution and the American people. Whatever it takes to oust them all is what has to be brought forward.

  12. 21 heather March 29, 2010 at 2:24 pm

There are some doctors and their employees who still don’t get this health care take over. I was at my dr this morning and his receptionist brought up the bill and said she is so happy that everyone now can get good HC! There are some people that are just so stupid and ignorant that no matter how you explain the pros and cons of something they are just deaf………..and the dr said he just wished he knew what was in it! OMG—this blew me away.

I told them both to read the entire bill before THINKING this is good for anyone including them. I did try to explain what was coming at them and no body understood! I gave up–you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink…..these are the people who are still asleep and frankly I don’t have time to stop and pick another person up who doesn’t want to open their eyes.

All we can do is leave them behind and clean this mess up ourselves. Of course they will benefit from it but we can’t wait.

John McCain funded by Soros since 2001

If anyone has any doubts that things would have been different under McCain, check out this article on WND from early ‘08 showing McCain’s ties to Soros.

    • 24 Katie March 29, 2010 at 3:38 pm

NO! NO! NO!!!!! Who are we going to trust to save the Constitution???? Right now, I trust none of them.

The Constitution doesn’t need to be amended to repeal the health care bill. That bill is already unconstitutional!!

      No to a CON-CON!

      • 25 drkate March 29, 2010 at 4:10 pm

I found out recently that the delegates to a constitutional convention cannot be either state representatives or sitting congressmen or senators.

Thus it would be we the people. BUT, without educated constitutionalists this could be a fiasco.

So I say no. There are many ways to get obama and stop this as we can, that would be a last resort, after the revolution has happened, imho.

  14. 27 heather March 29, 2010 at 5:50 pm

Soros has his hand in everything with everybody’s money that he extorted. So McCain is as dirty eh?

Is there any honest, trustworthy, loyal, and ethical politician that we can count on to REPRESENT WE THE PEOPLE?

  15. 28 Rosemary Woodhouse March 29, 2010 at 7:18 pm

    Why yes, heather, there is

It seems as if there are politicians currently on the Hill, such as Michele Bachmann, Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan, Peter King and John Boehner who acted ethically re: the Abortion of a Bill. I am encouraged by the fact that the Republicans voted against this abortion of a Bill as a block. Am I attesting to the ethics of all Republicans….heck no, but they “did the right thing”. regarding the safeguarding of our liberties in this instance.

I can, however, attest to the ethics of Lt. Col. Allen West.

  16. 29 Papoose March 29, 2010 at 7:18 pm

Going forward, lets not call the obamacare Health Care whatever TF it is the “healthcare” bill. …let’s refer to it as the Financial Reform bill. The Redistribution Experiment or something.

Lets stop referring to the unconstitutional national takeover of every single social cent while we can as ‘the healthcare bill”.

    Newspeak isn’t for pigs anymore.

Let’s call it what it is. A massive undermining of the United States of America’s labor and personal accounts it ~ is not a ‘healthcare’ reform bill.

    National Socialism Act of 2010.

    • 30 drkate March 29, 2010 at 11:59 pm

Totally agreed. We must reclaim the language.

“Redistribution of Wealth and Creation of Conflict Act of 2010”

  17. 31 Rosemary Woodhouse March 29, 2010 at 8:57 pm

You are so right, Papoose- although I am more inclined to call the acts of this administration Marxist rather than socialist. But, let’s not quibble over minutiae. Henceforth, I shall refer to the Bill that should have been aborted as the National Socialism Act of 2010.

  18. 32 heather March 29, 2010 at 9:06 pm

RW and Papoose–dito I am with you and yes Rosemary–I am in agreement with you about Bachmann, Cantor, Ryan, King and Boehner. I do feel they are on our side for the simple fact they are all younger and have young children to raise and I can’t believe they would want theme raised in communism. I do have to add Senator Coburn, Inhofe, and a few other honest Senators.

These are the men and women we need to represent us. Bachmann had come out several times on Hannity with emergency tea parties to come to DC — who else would have done this. My thoughts were, we the people are begging for this to stop and no one is listening and bam all of a sudden we have a few congressmen/women and senators asking for our help! Without their forewarning we would not have known or had enough time to fight back. They are patriots too!

  19. 33 Papoose March 29, 2010 at 9:30 pm

Yes, and even going further forward,

Let’s stop referring to the current resident commie acorn of the Oval Office as POTUS.

Let’s call it as we actually know it.

The incomplete wannabe Chicago political organizing stranger holding a Doctorate in manipulating Society and inciting racial riots relaxing in the White House is a fraud.

I am calling it the “present administration’s masquerade”. A guy who is half American and grew up elsewhere is lecturing our Troops on ‘patriotism

Commies in the 3 Branches. Degeneration. Pro-Regression.

And for those who say Barak Obama is ‘black’ are lying through their teeth. Excuse you. Excuse us, but the usurper is a White American and that’s a FACT.

  20. 34 Papoose March 29, 2010 at 9:48 pm

What’s Barky’s census going to look like? Will Mrs. Robinson and Reggie Love be declared on his questionnaire? Do they reside there “rent free”? looks like 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue will have at least 6 or 7 sections to complete.

Will Mrs. Robinson be declared as an employee on the 2009 on the Emperor’s Tax Return? Will she file a return as babysitter to the POTUS/FLOTUS children?

    The FOIA is on guard.

How come the Census doesn’t care to know where ~ what City and State I born?

    That’s a new omission.

The Census doesn’t give two craps where you, the American Citizen, was born. But they want to know what your phone number is this week.

So much for a historical record.

  21. 35 heather March 29, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Obama is half white I concur–but being a white american -not so sure. British subject and Indonesia adoptee for sure.

I don’t think you want to know what I call him…

Obama: ‘If They Bring a Knife to the Fight, We Bring a Gun’

This guy couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag, that’s why he has thugs and a big mouth!

  23. 37 heather March 29, 2010 at 10:18 pm

Tonight on Hannity, Dick Morris predicts that Obamas new agenda is:

Threatening and debunking the new law that the SCOTUS just passed about campaign finance laws. Obama will just take over all those companies into government under his rule once his threats take effect. Hence the votes and money will be his………

Do you think the Justices will stand firm and maybe, just maybe call for his removal?
